It was a fun and exciting weekend for our 10UBB Jr. Condors team who competed in the Can/Am Lake Tahoe Challenge Cup.

Our boys competed in three pool play games before heading to the championship game.

To open up the weekend, the Condors had a decisive 14-1 win over the Vacaville Jets.

Later that afternoon, the Condors played again against the Santa Clara Blackhawks. The Condors fell 3-8 in that game.

In the third and final pool play game, the Jr. Condors played against the Tahoe Grizzlies where they took another commanding 10-1 win.

The Jr. Condors finished second in the pool play games, which sent them to the championship game against the Santa Clara Blackhawks.

Unlike the first game, the Jr. Condors played an even game. Each team exchanged goals and by the end of the 3rd period it was tied 5-5. Regulation solved nothing.

For the first time ever, the boys were headed into a 3 on 3 overtime. Although they put up a good effort, the Jr. Condors lost in overtime as the Santa Clara Blackhawks scored the winning goal.

The Jr. Condors are coming home with the silver hardware, which is nothing to hang their heads about.

In addition to playing hockey, the boys got to attend the Tahoe Knight Monsters hockey game, who are the ECHL affiliate of the Vegas Golden Knights.

They got to go out on the ice and help pick up the Chuck-a-Pucks.

Because it snowed while they were there, the boys also got to pummel their parents with snowballs during a “parents vs kids” snowball fight.

They even witnessed a mama bear with her cubs near their hotel.

These are the kinds of wonderful memories hockey kids get to make during tournament weekends that go way beyond the game.

Some other honorable mentions were that both Eazy Yeager and Maddox England scored hat tricks this weekend. Reagan Eckley had a ton of incredible saves that kept the boys in it and helped them progress to the championship.

Congratulations boys! We are proud of you!
