This past weekend, 5 of our Jr. Condor teams competed in various Labor Day tournaments across Southern California.

Our 16U AA team competed in the Tinseltown Hockey Tournament Series at the Toyota Sports Performance Center in El Segundo, CA. The team opened the tournament with a commanding 5-0 win over the California Heat. However, after four hard fought games, they came up just short in each game and finished with a record of 1-4 and finished in 4th place in their division.

Our 14U A team had a very impressive tournament. During their first 3 round robin games, they only allowed one goal against. They faced off against The Aliso Viejo Avalanche in the semi-finals and won that game 7-3, which put them in the championship. The 14U team played against Orange County Hockey Club (Shand) and battled to win the game 3-0 and won the championship.

Our 12U team gave us the definition of determination and a “never give up” attitude. They started the tournament with two losses, but that did not let them discourage them. The team continued to battle and finished round robin with a record of 2-2. That being said, during their last game again Orange County Hockey Club, they were faced with a must win situation. The game was tied 2-2 and the Jr. Condors pulled their goalie with about 45 seconds left and scored with only 4 seconds left on the clock! They went on to the championship game where they faced off against the Santa Clarita Flyers. They finished regulation tied at 3. After double overtime, the Jr. Condors scored and won the championship!

Our 8U B1 team also worked really hard this past weekend. They opened up their tournament with a dominant 19-0 win over the LA Jr. Kings. Just like our 14U team, our mites 1 team went 4-0 during their round robin games. They landed themselves in the championship game against the Santa Barbara Ice Hawks (Maroon) team. With the score tied at 6, the Jr. Condors scored with 50 seconds left in the game and brought home the championship with a final score of 7-6.

Finally, our 8U B2 team did well during their first tournament as Jr. Condors. They started the tournament out with two losses, but battled back to win their third game against the California Bears. That win landed the Jr. Condors in 4th place.  Overall, they had fun, worked hard, and we’re excited to see where they go from here.

Congratulations to all teams that participated! We are proud of all of you!
